The Commander in Chief addressed the nation Wednesday morning from the White House after Iran attacked US military bases in Iraq that resulted in “no casualties”, and announced that Iran “appears to be standing down”.

President Trump opened his speech by vowing that “As long as I am President of the United States, Iran will never be allowed to have a nuclear weapon.”

“The American people should be extremely grateful and happy. No Americans were harmed in last night’s attack by the Iranian regime” the Commander in Chief said.

“Iran appears to be standing down, which is a good thing for all parties concerned,” he stated. “No American or Iraqi lives were lost.”

The Commander in Chief also said he would immediately impose economic sanctions “until Iran changes its behavior,” called on other world powers to break away from the Iran nuclear deal, and called on NATO to become more involved in the Middle East.

President Trump stood by his decision to eliminate Soleimoni, saying: “Soleimani’s hands were drenched in both American and Iranian blood”. He also stressed that America does not want to use our massive military power unnecessarily and that deterrence is his goal. (Continued Below)

President Trump also discussed America and Iran’s shared priorities in preventing groups like ISIS from conquering massive amounts of territory again.

President Donald Trump’s address to the nation:

Republican lawmakers responded:

House minority leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) tweeted: “‘Peace through strength’ —That was the Reagan doctrine, and that is the measured approach we are seeing from the Trump administration today. Thank you to our President and to our courageous troops for returning America to a position of respect and admiration around the world.”

Congressman Mark Meadows (R-NC) wrote on Twitter: “Excellent address from @realDonaldTrump. The President showed a determined, forceful resolve while making it clear that America’s strongly preferred option is deescalation — not war. That’s leadership. Let’s remain vigilant and get back to focusing on issues at home.”

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) tweeted: “@POTUS’s decision to advance peace through mindful restraint with Iran represents his full commitment to an American First foreign policy. Our strength will not be weakened by Iran’s provocations. I am thankful that @realDonaldTrump will keep us out of another forever war.”

Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY) said: “Strong message from President Trump this morning. Iranians have a lot to think about, although the answer shouldn’t be hard to identify and pursue. Choose stability, peace, prosperity and freedom or continued uncertainty, weakness, poverty, and conflict.”

Mark Levin, the “great one”, tweeted: “President Trump’s speech was outstanding. Truly superb. And we don’t need the Democrat Party-media to interpret it for us. We saw it and we heard it ourselves, first-hand.”

“Thanks to the president’s strategic actions, and the Trump Doctrine, for the first time since the Reagan administration, Iran has lost and we have won.  No doubt this infuriates the Democrats and the Democrat Party-press, which has been trashing the president for days,” Levin continued.

He added: “The president also announced that there will be even more economic sanctions on the Iranian regime, and NATO will be more active in addressing any future Iranian military or terrorist actions against our country and fellow countrymen.”

We leave you with Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ), who tweeted a video message:
