On Friday evening, Senator Lindsey Graham ripped members of Congress who are still casting doubts on whether Iranian General Qassem Soleimani posed an imminent threat to U.S. personal.
Trump Administration officials recently briefed members of Congress on potential threats from the Iranian military, which included plans to attack at least two U.S. embassies. However, some lawmakers are still questioning whether killing Soleimani was justified, citing “lack of evidence”.
As an example, Democrat Congressman Eric Swalwell said in a recent CNN interview that because Secretary of State Mike Pompeo can’t say “precisely when” or “precisely where” Soleimani was planning to attack, “that aligns with the lack of evidence” he has seen during briefings.
Swalwell also questioned Pompeo’s definition of “imminent threat” which he said means “it is going to happen.” The Congressman compared Pompeo’s definition to New Years Eve 2020. “New Years Eve 2020 is going to happen. It’s just three hundred and, you know, fifty some odd days away. That’s not imminent,” Swalwell said.

Senator Graham issued a response on Twitter specifically targeting members of Congress like Swalwell who don’t think the elimination of Soleimani was justified. See Below
“To those Members of Congress who question the assessment the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and CIA Director who forcefully made the case there was an imminent threat to U.S. personnel in Iraq and throughout the region coming from Quds Force commander Soleimani: With all due respect, a third grader just watching the news could figure out our people were in grave danger in Iraq,” Graham tweeted.
“A politician living in the safety of Washington has a much different definition of ‘imminent threat’ than those Americans stationed in Iraq,” he added.
“In this instance, Democrat’s unending efforts to trash President Trump are instead trashing the professional assessment of the CIA Director and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs. It’s beyond disgusting,” Sen. Graham declared. Video Below
